She also seemed to have an overwhelming need for dozens of people, including children, to share her bed all the time, and that just seemed a little strange and creepy to me.
The only time the author really deals with this reality is in the last twenty pages and then he just rushes through it. Jun 07, Cheryl Landmark rated it it was ok. I was highly disappointed in Todd McCaffrey throughout this book. Noting that Talenth was ill shortly before clutching, Fiona suggests they wait and see how the other clutches turn out.
About Dragongirl With a cast of beloved characters from previous Pern novels, Dragongirl is another triumph for Todd McCaffrey—and a riveting chapter for the Dragonriders of Pern.
Here’s the link to my Top Ten of Fiona finds Shaneese has already prepared firestone, claiming to have been told to do so by Fiona herself an hour earlier, so Fiona gets Talenth to take her back in time so she can give those instructions to Shaneese.
It got to the point where I didn’t want to meet any new characters because they would be dead within pages. There was group sex, gay sex, lesbian sex, “wife” swapping, you name it. Young Fiona, rider of the gold queen Talenth, has returned with the dragons and riders who fled into the past to heal their battle wounds and prepare to fight anew the menace of Thread. It’s a good idea to read the first and then this one has sort of a cliff hanger a ledge really that leaves you sort of wishing for the next book All the Weyrs of Pern. However, despite T’mar’s efforts to warn him of the danger, the Benden Weyrleader is engulfed by Thread.
I grew up on Anne McCaffrey ‘s Dragonriders of Pern books, and still count them among my all-time favorite series. I really enjoyed this book it was like going back to see old friends you have missed. It opened up my entire world, and created an avid reader.

Dragongirl: It’s well past time to put Pern to rest
Over the course of the meeting, Verilan reveals that calculations made from analysing the old Records show that with their present numbers, the dragons will steadily die out; the queens won’t lay enough to replace those lost in Fall, and while a similar situation occured in the First Passtheir ancestors had machines to help them out; the closest thing they have are the agenothree throwers Fiona commissioned from the Dragongir while at Igen Weyr.
She suddenly requests that Fiona take her to Benden Weyr – early, before the others go to fight Thread, and she does, before sending Fiona back, dragonngirl she’ll return on Minith.
There was also way too much emphasis on just how ‘amazing’ Fiona is – Anne always made it understated, the reader knew what great people her characters were Menolly, Lessa, etc.
On the plus side, the ridiculous amount of partner-swapping in the book had me laughing in amazement throughout! But if her plan succeeds, it just might save them all. Fiona manages to catch T’mar, and manages to prevent Zirenth – who thinks T’mar is dead – from going between, before having T’mar taken to an empty queen weyr to recuperate.
Jul 27, Pages Buy. In an attempt to save him, Zirenth knocks T’mar’s head against the Weyr walls, rragongirl his skull and knocking him unconcious.
The prose is adequate at its best moments and just bad at its worst. Perhaps it’s because it’s been awhile since the last Pern book came mccaffrye perhaps it’s the fact that the books aren’t following any kind of chronological sequence I know – – – they never truly have.
Fiona is forced to take a reluctant Talenth to the abandoned Igen Weyr, where she goes over mating flight Records until they are able to return to help the others.
Conversations seemed a bit stilted and clunky at times. The only redeeming factor for the next book in the series is that it will supposedly dratongirl co-written by Anne again, so maybe she can save it from being crap. With the last book I had said if this one was as disappointing, I would not go on.
